Jakarta (ANTARA) - Around 250 students and teachers from SMA Negeri 15 Sunter in North Jakarta participated in the “Istana untuk Anak Sekolah” activity at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday.

In a post on the official Instagram account of Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the Cabinet Secretary explained that the event is part of a series of activities designed to introduce the government system and public policies to school pupils from an early age.

The event, held at the Hoegeng Hall in the Cabinet Secretariat Building, began with the singing of national songs to build a sense of nationalism among the participants. The atmosphere was warm, with active participation from the students in every session.

Participants then received presentations on Indonesia’s government system and the importance of understanding public policies in national and state life.

Following the presentation session, the activity continued with a tour around the Presidential Palace area. The students were taken to visit Wisma Negara, a six-storey building constructed between 1962 and 1964.

Wisma Negara, in its time, functioned as accommodation for state guests and ministers, making it an important part of Indonesia’s state history.

The students also had the opportunity to take photos together in the front yard of Istana Merdeka, known as the location for ceremonies commemorating the proclamation of the Republic of Indonesia.

Through this activity, the students are expected to broaden their national insight, get to know the palace environment more closely, and understand the historical values in Indonesia’s journey as a nation.
