Students from Medan People's School Invited to Learn about Maritime Affairs on KRI Bimasuci
Medan (ANTARA) - The Medan City Government in North Sumatra invited students from Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 2 Medan to learn about maritime affairs aboard the Kapal Republik Indonesia (KRI) Bimasuci-945, which is currently docked at Belawan Port in Medan City.
The Head of the Medan City Social Service (Dinsos), Khoiruddin Rangkuti, stated that this visit is part of the local government’s efforts to introduce maritime awareness to the younger generation.
“This is a direct instruction from the Mayor of Medan to introduce maritime affairs to the younger generation,” Khoiruddin said in Medan on Tuesday.
Khoiruddin added that during the occasion, dozens of SRMP students received explanations about maritime topics from the crew of KRI Bimasuci.
With the experience gained, Khoiruddin hopes that the students will enhance their knowledge and develop an interest and talent in maritime affairs.
“The students appeared enthusiastic in following every series of activities, starting from getting to know the parts of the ship through explanations from the crew,” he said.
ASEAN Plus Cadet Sail is an international maritime diplomacy programme initiated by the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) that brings together naval academy cadets from ASEAN and non-ASEAN countries to interact.
Paban V Straops and Diplomasi Sopsal, Colonel Laut (P) Rasyid Al Hafiz, stated that the route for the APCS 2026 programme is Surabaya–Jakarta–Belawan–Colombia.
