Students from HMI, Mercu Buana, and Trisakti Stage Protest at DPR Building

Masses of demonstrators arrived gradually at the DPR/MPR building on Friday (19/6/2026). The HMI contingent arrived first, dressed in green with their distinctive green, black, and white caps. The HMI crowd carried a doll resembling a ‘jelangkung’ spirit, with a ball for a head. The doll was planted in front of the building’s gate. They were followed by students from Mercu Buana University, who wore their red university jackets. At 4 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, students from Trisakti University arrived. They gathered together with students from Esa Unggul University, marching accompanied by a command vehicle from Jalan Pemuda. Meanwhile, the road from Semanggi to Slipi was closed. Police officers were also stationed at the location to oversee the demonstration. In this protest, the Trisakti University contingent carried the banner of ‘Tritura’, or the Three Demands of the People. Their demands included national economic and political recovery, eradicating incompetence among state officials, and restoring civilian supremacy. ‘First, we want national economic and political recovery. Second, we want to eradicate the incompetence of today’s state officials. And third, we want to restore civilian supremacy,’ said student representative and Trisakti Student Council Foreign Minister Arief Rizquna at the scene.
