Students Explain Ways to Keep Personal Data Safe in the AI Era
Tangerang (ANTARA) - Several master’s students from the Postgraduate Programme in Informatics Engineering at Universitas Pamulang (Unpam) in South Tangerang, Banten, have carried out a socialisation on data security for pupils in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) as an effort to prevent digital crimes.
Unpam master’s student I Made Mustika Kerta Astawa in Tangerang on Sunday said that one way for pupils to maintain data security is by creating and regularly changing passwords. This aims to ensure that personal identity cannot be discovered.
They should also check their emails via the periksadata.com application, as every activity in cyberspace leaves a digital footprint.
“The aim is to prevent data breaches. Moreover, many applications now require email inclusion, and there could be criminal attempts involved. This check is important to prevent data misuse,” said I Made during the socialisation event at SMP Islam At-Taqwa Pamulang in South Tangerang.
Rafi Mahmud Zain, a lecturer at Unpam, added that pupils are an important target for such socialisation in the current era with the advent of AI technology, so they can better understand digital literacy.
The event also addressed other important issues such as the dangers of malicious applications (APK), the spread of hoaxes, and the prevalence of online gambling practices (judol) among pupils.
The principal of SMP Islam At-Taqwa, H. Budi Waluyo, said he was very pleased with the socialisation for 35 pupils to enhance students’ knowledge regarding gadget use and hopes that this activity and cooperation can be sustained.
“AI is everywhere, and unknowingly, we are all AI users. AI is a very powerful tool, and the true power lies in those who use it wisely, so always protect your privacy, always verify, and think critically—don’t be easily deceived,” he said.
