Jakarta (ANTARA) - Students can now see the interior of the Presidential Palace for the first time through the “Presidential Palace for School Students” programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto. The programme forms part of a major commitment to investing in building and shaping Indonesia’s younger generation. During the visit to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, the laughter and enthusiastic faces of the students were clearly evident. Kayla Annisa Maulida and Ine Ratriana Pertiwi, students from Class XI Accounting 1 at SMK Negeri 19 Jakarta, are examples. Through an official statement released by the Presidential Secretariat, both admitted that the visit was an unforgettable experience. Their enthusiasm was apparent from the moment they set foot in the palace complex, which they had previously only seen from the outside or through the media. “I’m so happy, I can now know what the inside of the palace is like, and the functions of each room are so different, and I can learn more about the environment here,” said Kayla enthusiastically. Ine expressed similar sentiments, stating she was impressed by the atmosphere and the friendliness of the palace staff. According to her, this first experience was very interesting and unforgettable, especially the historical stories within the palace building. “For me, the first visit here was really fun, satisfying, and the staff here are all really cool and very kind. And there is so much history here from before Indonesia’s independence until now,” she said. Not only did the students gain visual experiences, they also acquired new knowledge through various historical documentations displayed. “There are lots of documentaries too. It’s just really cool,” said Ine. The visit was also their first experience, which felt even more special because their school was one of the first to participate in the programme. Meanwhile, another student, Wahyu Khoirul Setiawan from Class XI Business Retail, felt similar joy. Wahyu admitted that the visit broadened his horizons about various state activities that he had never known before, including meeting rooms and activities inside the palace. “I feel very happy because it’s my first time at the Presidential Palace,” he said. The students hope that the programme will continue and reach more students at various educational levels. This hope reflects the younger generation’s desire for this valuable experience to be felt more widely by students across Indonesia.
