Demonstrators taking part in the 28 October protest dispersed from the area around the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout and Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin.

CNNIndonesia.com observed that the demonstrators began leaving at 7.45pm local time. Traffic in both directions was also starting to reopen to the public.

No demonstrators remained in the area. Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police officers were still on duty there.

Four demonstrators were also seen being detained by police officers wearing white uniforms.

The protest in Jakarta was held by students from various universities and several civil society groups.

At the HI roundabout, protesters presented five demands to President Prabowo Subianto and Vice-President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

The demands concerned declaring a national disaster, ensuring the state budget serves the public interest, reducing education costs, eradicating corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN), and ending the militarisation of civilian spaces.
