Students, beware of trap
Students, beware of trap
From Republika
Student demonstrations against the fuel price increase have
reaped public ridicule rather than support lately partly due to
their destructive behavior, so that the effectiveness of such
protests is to be doubted.
Meanwhile, there is fear of the presence of other parties
under a grand strategy of a certain group with political
interests, using student power just to confine the student
movement.
Therefore, in connection with the plan to launch a large-scale
Java-Sumatra student action as revealed by student leaders on TV,
caution is needed to avoid a negative impact. Students should
first make an in depth study of the fuel problem.
The controversial fuel price policy has apparently also won
the support of academicians and non-governmental organizations.
In the history of our government, only this time has the policy
been supported by critical elements in society.
