Students and University Students Swarm Jogja Expo Centre to Watch Purbaya and Ari Lasso
Yogyakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Today, Friday (22 May 2026), the city of Yogyakarta was enlivened by the Jogja Financial Festival 2026. The larger financial-literacy event of the year features a host of notable figures with a range of activities. The event today began at 10:00 WIB. According to CNBC Indonesia’s observations, at 9:00 WIB the people of Jogja could be seen flocking to the Jogja Expo Centre. Thousands of seats on offer were nearly full, filled by young people, including high school students, university students, as well as workers and small- and medium-sized business operators. High school pupils were also present, wearing their school uniforms. They entered the venue in an orderly fashion. Attendees displayed enthusiastic expressions as they arrived to participate in the programme running over the next three days. The event will be opened by Anggito Abimanyu, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of LPS; Ova Emilia, Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada; and the Governor of the Special Administrative Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X. In addition, the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Friderica Widyasari Dewi; and the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Aida S Budiman, will discuss the state of Indonesia’s financial sector in greater depth. Indonesia’s Finance Minister, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who had previously not been scheduled to attend, is set to appear in a special session. The minister, known for his outspoken style and notable performance, will take part in a one-on-one session with CT Corp Founder and Chairman, Chairul Tanjung. In this session, Purbaya will bring a fresh spirit to relay to participants insights into Indonesia’s financial conditions, and he will also discuss the broader economy in more detail. At the end of the day’s programme, attendees will also be treated to a music performance by Happy Asmara and veteran singer Ari Lasso.
