Students Allegedly Victimised by Sexual Harassment by Islamic Boarding School Leader in Sukabumi
Multiple female students (santriwati) have allegedly become victims of sexual harassment by the leader of an Islamic boarding school in Cikondang Village, Cimahi District, Cicantayan Subdistrict, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. The alleged perpetrator’s modus operandi includes kissing victims and inviting them to karaoke entertainment venues.
The legal representative of the victims’ parents, Rangga Suria Danuningrat from LBH Pro Ummat, stated that the allegations of sexual harassment came to light over the weekend. One victim’s parent discovered text messages on their child’s mobile phone containing allegations of sexual harassment.
“The case initially came to light last Saturday and Sunday when the parent of one victim, identified as I (aged 16), read WhatsApp messages on their child’s phone containing conversations with friends,” he said when contacted on Friday (27 February 2026).
He explained that friends had asked the victim why she rarely attended gatherings. It was discovered that the victim avoided socialising with friends due to trauma from the boarding school leader’s behaviour.
Rangga further stated that the victim mentioned there were other alleged victims of sexual harassment. After the victim’s mother became aware of the conversations, she gathered the alleged victims and questioned them about the boarding school leader’s conduct.
According to Rangga, victim I was forced to stop school and decided to pursue a package C educational programme instead. Victim I allegedly experienced sexual harassment three months ago.
“When gathered at victim I’s home on Sunday, six victims were identified. They shared their experiences with one another,” he said.
