Jakarta (ANTARA) - A student from Universitas Islam Nahdlatul Ulama (Unisnu) Jepara, Muhammad Alfa Khoiruzzulfa, is now able to finance his studies while meeting his daily living needs independently after being mentored by the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) of Indonesia through the ZCoffee programme.

“Alhamdulillah, around 25 cups of drinks are sold daily from this small booth, with an average turnover of Rp350,000. On certain days, it can reach Rp500,000,” said the student, affectionately known as Alpeng, in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.

Alpeng explained that from this income, he is able to cover his academic needs as well as his daily expenses.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of Baznas RI, Subhan Cholid, stated that the ZCoffee programme is one of Baznas’s efforts to empower mustahik, including those from the student community.

“We appreciate Alpeng’s success in managing the ZCoffee business, which was entrusted by muzaki through Baznas. This demonstrates that with the right support, students can also become resilient entrepreneurs,” he said.

Subhan explained that Baznas continues to promote the management of zakat so that it is not only consumptive but also productive and sustainable. The ZCoffee programme, he said, is designed not only as a source of income but also as a means of entrepreneurial learning for students.

Subhan also hopes that Alpeng’s story can inspire other beneficiaries to keep striving and utilising opportunities.

“Through this programme, students learn business management, customer service, and simple yet effective financial management,” he added.

It is known that ZCoffee is one of Baznas RI’s flagship programmes to improve the economy of mustahik through mentoring and capital provision for MSMEs in the form of coffee drink businesses.
