Student wins contest

BANDUNG, West Java: A Magelang state junior high school student, Fani Kartikasari Kurniawati, has won the Youth International Letter Writing Contest's grand prize.

With the theme "Letter To The Person I Admire Most", the contest was organized and sponsored by PT Pos Indonesia in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Indonesian Journalists Association, Antara reported.

PT Pos' public relations officer, Moh. Sabarudin, said Thursday prizes would be awarded Oct. 9, World Post Day.

Second place went to Ronald Sahat Mauli Simanjuntak from Cirebon's Christian Secondary School, while third place went to Riri Winalza from Padang's Painan High School.

Prizes include charters, presents, and cash. The winner will receive Rp 750,000 (US$312), second place Rp 500,000 and third place Rp 250,00.
