Student Who Exposed Sexual Harassment at SMAN 1 Sentolo Allegedly Intimidated
A student from SMAN 1 Sentolo is allegedly being intimidated after exposing a sexual harassment case at their school. The case is currently being investigated by the Yogyakarta Special Region Department of Education, Youth, and Sports (Disdikpora DIY).
“Is it true that there were acts of intimidation such that the person reporting was instead intimidated? We must protect those who have reported improper conduct,” said the Head of Disdikpora DIY, Raden Suci Rohmadi, when met at the Kepatihan Complex, Yogyakarta City, on Thursday (17/9/2026).
The harassment case involves a security guard who allegedly harassed a female student at SMAN 1 Sentolo, which went viral recently. Allegations of intimidation emerged following the upload of a clarification video by a student on social media, including the Instagram account @jktlogy.
The student, identified as the whistleblower, apologised for uploading the case without cross-checking with the school first. There are also screenshots of a conversation where a student expressed fear of being expelled from school.
Raden stated that they are still investigating the matter to determine if the student truly faced intimidation. “Our team from the High School Division and the Education Office has been deployed to Kulon Propris to clarify and follow up on this matter,” he said.
He added that the school principal and relevant parties would be summoned. If intimidation by the school is proven, Disdikpora DIY will take steps according to applicable regulations. “If it is proven, we will follow the established procedures. If it was carried out by teachers or the principal, there are mechanisms we can implement. Our priority is clearly the safety and comfort of children in schools,” he concluded.
Security Guard Allegedly Harassed Student
The harassment incident involving the security guard at SMAN 1 Sentolo, Kulon Progo, occurred last August. Johan Wahyudi, the Vice Principal for Student Affairs, explained that the incident began when two female students went back to the classroom to retrieve items left behind after marching practice.
As the school was quiet at the time, the students asked the security guard to assist them. Johan stated that after retrieving the items, the guard allegedly attempted to embrace one of the students, but she managed to avoid him.
The school became aware of the incident after the student reported it to the school counsellor (BK). CCTV footage was subsequently reviewed to verify the claim. According to Johan, the footage showed the guard attempting to embrace the student and the student actively trying to evade him.
Security Guard Issued Warning
Johan stated that the school immediately contacted the security service provider to request that the guard be transferred to avoid further discomfort for the students. “We went there with the video evidence and requested a rotation. We didn’t ask for him to be fired, as we didn’t want to take away his livelihood, but we requested a transfer,” said Johan.
Following a meeting with the service provider, the security guard reportedly admitted to the actions captured on CCTV. Consequently, the guard was required to sign a written agreement and has been issued a third warning letter (SP3), with the stipulation that any repeat offence will result in dismissal.
