The controversy surrounding the results of the Talent Scouting or international class selection at Universitas Indonesia continues to unfold. One student who became a victim of the selection chaos has sent a complaint letter to Commission X of the DPR RI after his graduation status suddenly changed within hours.

The protest letter was submitted by Budi, not his real name. Budi declined to provide his actual name for security reasons. In his letter, he was initially declared to have passed the selection in the announcement around 7:00 PM WIB. However, that status changed to failed at 9:30 PM on the same day without any official explanation.

“This sudden change has caused confusion, disappointment, and serious questions regarding the integrity and accountability of the selection process,” Budi wrote when confirmed on Thursday, 19 March 2026.

He considers the unilateral decision by UI to potentially harm participants who had received the initial results and trusted their validity. Moreover, there has been no adequate clarification from the campus regarding the status change.

In his letter, he requests Commission X of the DPR to intervene. There are three main demands put forward. First, the DPR is asked to follow up and monitor this issue seriously. Second, to urge UI to provide an official, transparent, and accountable explanation. Third, to ensure an evaluation of the selection system so that similar incidents do not recur.

Furthermore, Budi hopes that the DPR can advocate for the children who were previously declared to have passed according to the initial announcement.

Budi’s case adds to the list of public complaints against the UI Talent Scouting pathway in 2026. Previously, several parents claimed to have experienced similar incidents, where they were initially declared to have passed, then the status changed after the system was said to have experienced a disruption.

Previously, UI issued an apology for the inconsistency in displaying the selection results status on the Talent Scouting Programme for Undergraduate Special International Class (S1 KKI) enrolment system that occurred on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

UI’s Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International Affairs, Erwin Agustian Panigoro, revealed that this inconsistency occurred within a 40-minute window after the system displayed non-final data.

“This moment can cause confusion and disappointment, especially for applicants who temporarily received inaccurate information,” Erwin stated in a written statement received on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

Therefore, Erwin continued, applicants who need further explanation can send messages via email to [email protected]. “The system is now back to normal, and the Talent Scouting Programme S1 KKI selection results displayed on enrollment.ui.ac.id are the final and official selection results, through a fair and transparent process,” Erwin said.
