Student reports rape

JAKARTA (JP): A 17-year-old senior high school student
was reportedly raped by a male companion in a hotel on Jl.
Percetakan Negara, Central Jakarta.

Jul reported the rape to the Central Jakarta Police Tuesday,
saying the man, identified only as An, had given her an alcoholic
drink before raping her.

She did not reveal whether the man, whom she met hours before,
had forced her to drink the liquor.

She said she met the man at a friend's house on Jl. Cempaka
Putih, Central Jakarta. The man then offered to take her home, to
which she agreed.

"The man stopped the car at Dewi Hotel on Jl. Percetakan
Negara, instead of heading for her home on Jl. Kramat," an
officer, who asked for anonymity, said.

The man said he wanted to meet a friend at the hotel, and
suggested they both wait in a hotel room.

The alleged rapist gave her an alcoholic drink after which she
reportedly fell unconscious.

"The girl woke up the following morning and realized she had
been raped. The man had gone," he said.

The officer said the report was possibly false. "It was
probably mutual consent, not rape." (jun)
