Student Reports Police Over Unpaid Rp11.5 Million Ogoh-Ogoh Costume Order
An alleged fraud and embezzlement case related to the ordering of an ogoh-ogoh costume has been reported in Sawan District, Buleleng Regency, Bali. An 18-year-old student has filed a police report after failing to receive the costume for which payment had already been made.
Iptu Yohana Rosalin Diaz, Head of Public Relations at Buleleng Police Station, confirmed the report. The case is currently being handled by investigators at Sawan Police Station.
βIt is true that we have received a report of alleged fraud and or embezzlement related to the ordering of an ogoh-ogoh costume. The case is currently under investigation by Sawan Police Station,β said Yohana when confirmed on Sunday, 15 March 2026.
The incident began on Thursday, 22 January 2026 at approximately 22:04 Wita on Singaraja-Kubutambahan Road, Sangsit Village, Sawan District.
The victim, Komang Mahendra Wiryawan (18), a student from Banjar Dinas Pabean, Sangsit Village, ordered an ogoh-ogoh costume from a man initials Putu AW (24), also a resident of Sangsit Village.
Under the agreement, Mahendra paid AW for the order. The costume was promised to be completed by 11 March 2026.
However, by the agreed deadline, the ogoh-ogoh costume was not delivered to Mahendra. AW reportedly also failed to provide any clarity regarding the completion of the order. As a result, Mahendra reported a loss of Rp11.5 million.
Mahendra also obtained information about another victim from a different banjar who allegedly experienced a similar incident with losses of approximately Rp8 million.
Feeling aggrieved, Mahendra subsequently reported the matter to the police. The report was recorded under Number: LP/B/3/III/2026/SPKT/POLSEK SAWAN/POLRES BULELENG/POLDA BALI, dated 14 March 2026. The police are currently conducting further investigations into the alleged fraud and embezzlement report.
