Student Protests to Take Place in Jakarta Today, Traffic Disruption Expected

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - A demonstration will be held in the Central Jakarta area today, Thursday (26/2/2026).

The Head of Public Relations at the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the demonstration will take place on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Gambir.

A total of 605 personnel from the combined police force have been deployed to secure today’s demonstration.

Meanwhile, traffic management around the demonstration area will be implemented situationally, taking into account the number of protesters present.

Erlyn appealed to the public to avoid the area around the demonstration location to anticipate traffic congestion.
