Student Protests in Jakarta Today, Traffic Expected to Be Heavily Congested

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Three demonstrations will be held in the Central Jakarta area on Friday (6 March 2025) today. Public Relations Head of Metro Jakarta Central Police (Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat), Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, said the first demonstration took place in front of the DPR/MPR RI building, Senayan. ‘In the morning there will be witnesses to the protest from the Alliance of Students and Civil Society,’ Erlyn said in a written statement on Friday. The third demonstration will be conducted by the Executive Committee of the Labour Party in front of the Pengadilan Negeri (PN) Jakarta Pusat, Kemayoran. A total of 1,436 police personnel have been deployed to secure the demonstrations on Friday. Meanwhile, traffic management at the demonstration points will be situational, taking into account the crowd size on the ground. Erlyn urged the public to avoid the areas around the demonstrations to mitigate traffic congestion.
