Student Protests Agriculture Minister, Brings Home Hand Tractor for Hometown Farmers

Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman’s commitment to swiftly addressing farmers’ complaints has been demonstrated once again. Within hours of receiving a student’s appeal, a hand tractor was delivered to its destination in the early hours of Sunday, 21 June 2026. This concrete action began with the courage of Husna Rupu, a student at IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo, who interrupted Minister Amran using a loudspeaker during a dialogue session in Gorontalo. Husna voiced the struggles of rice farmers in her home village of Desa Molosipat Utara, who urgently needed modern equipment to boost land productivity. Upon hearing the appeal, Minister Amran immediately instructed his staff at the Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Gorontalo Centre for Agricultural Assembly and Modernisation (BRMP), to dispatch the aid without delay. Despite the journey to the location taking approximately six hours, the ministry team ensured the mandate was fulfilled. The aid arrived in Desa Molosipat Utara, Popayato Barat District, Pohuwato Regency, precisely at 2:00 a.m. Central Indonesian Time. Husna Rupu expressed her gratitude for the minister’s lightning-fast response, stating she merely wanted to be a bridge for farmers who have long struggled to cultivate their land manually. ‘I thank the Agriculture Minister very much for providing direct assistance to rice farmers in Desa Molosipat. I will hand over this aid directly to the head of the farmers’ group association,’ said Husna while overseeing the equipment’s arrival. The head of the Molosipat farmers’ group association also conveyed high appreciation, noting that the student’s bravery in voicing grassroots needs had yielded tangible results beneficial for agricultural sustainability in the Popayato Barat region. Head of the BRMP Gorontalo Centre, Adi Praptono, confirmed his team was merely carrying out the firm instructions of Minister Amran. ‘Hopefully this will benefit farmers and drive agricultural progress, especially in Molosipat Utara,’ he concluded. The incident reinforces Minister Amran’s message that student idealism must deliver concrete benefits to society. From the discussion room to the rice fields in the dead of night, the hand tractor now stands as a symbol of synergy between youth voices and tangible government action.
