Student Protesters Bring Funeral Wreaths to DPR Building Demonstration
A number of student groups staged a demonstration in front of the DPR/MPR building in Jakarta today, bringing two funeral wreaths during their long march to the protest site.
Based on monitoring at the location on Monday (15/6/2026) at 15.50 WIB, students wearing different university jackets were seen conducting a long march from the Semanggi area towards the DPR building. They comprised students from Universitas Paramadina and Institut STIAMI.
The crowd carried two funeral wreaths. The wreaths bore the inscriptions ‘Congratulations on the Failure of the Prabowo and Gibran Regime’ and ‘Congratulations on the Failure of the DPR RI’s Performance’.
‘Every day there is bad news from our government. We as students, the people are already angry enough with the government,’ an orator declared in front of the DPR building.
Thousands of Personnel Deployed
Polda Metro Jaya deployed thousands of personnel to ensure the smooth running of the mass action. A total of 6,675 joint personnel from the Police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Transportation Agency (Dishub) were mobilised.
The mass concentration points were centred in front of the DPR/MPR building, the National Monument (Monas), the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, and the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) building.
Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the security measures were implemented to ensure that the expression of opinions proceeded safely, orderly, and without disrupting public activities.
‘Polda Metro Jaya has prepared 6,675 joint personnel to secure the entire series of opinion-expression actions. Personnel will be stationed at strategic points to guarantee the safety of both the protest participants and the public active in the surrounding areas,’ Commissioner Budi said in a statement to journalists on Monday (15/6).
