Student Protesters at Patung Kuda Enter Vice President Gibran's Office
Representatives of students staging a demonstration near the Patung Kuda roundabout in Central Jakarta entered the office of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka on Monday (15/6). A group of 15 students wearing red and blue university jackets were seen entering the Vice Presidential Palace at 5:19 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. They were briefly checked by the vice presidential office security personnel before entering. It is not yet known whom the student representatives will meet inside the vice presidential office. “Our struggle has borne fruit, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is receiving us to hear our aspirations. We will convey to the Vice President to bring our demands to the Palace,” said a student protest orator. Previously, masses from UBK and MH Thamrin University held a rally today. The crowd conducted a long march on foot from the Tugu Tani area to the Simpang Patung Kuda junction via Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan in Central Jakarta.
