Student Protest at National Police Headquarters, Trunojoyo Road Towards Tendean Closed

JAKARTA – Students held a protest in front of the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri) in South Jakarta on Friday (27 February 2026) afternoon.

The action resulted in the temporary closure of Trunojoyo Road towards Tendean, Kebayoran Baru. At the location, traffic flow was diverted in stages. Initially, vehicles could still pass after the CSW intersection, but were then directed to turn around in front of the Bhayangkara Field at Mabes Polri.

Shortly after, several police officers were stationed on the road to provide information regarding the access closure to motorists. From Raden Patah I Road, motorists were directed to use the road towards Tendean and then turn around via the CSW intersection.

In the demonstration, participants demanded that the perpetrators be given heavy sentences. Additionally, they also requested that the National Police Chief and the Maluku Police Chief be removed from their positions as a form of accountability.

The crowd also demanded that the police be given limits to prevent them from holding strategic positions in the civilian sphere, and urged the implementation of comprehensive police reform.

Furthermore, protest participants requested that political detainees arrested during demonstrations in late August 2025 be released.

As of the time this report was filed, the protest was still ongoing with security personnel present around the location.
