Student Poisoned by Free Nutritious Meal Programme in Karo Returns to School Today
The North Sumatra Provincial Education Office has revealed the current condition of Febiona Purba (16), a student who previously suffered suspected memory loss after being poisoned by a Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menu. Febiona has returned to school today.
“According to a report from the Principal of SMK Swasta Bersama, Feby arrived at school today,” said Zulkarnain Barus, Head of the North Sumatra Education Office Branch for Region IV, on Monday (21/09/2026).
Zulkarnain stated that Febiona began attending school today. Based on reports from the school, Febiona’s condition has improved, and she is able to communicate effectively.
“She has been engaged in conversation and her response is good. Yes, today is her first day back at school after being ill,” he added.
However, he noted that Febiona has not participated in full learning activities until the afternoon. Zulkarnante explained that the family has requested Febiona remain at school only until 12:00 WIB.
“Feby is at school only until 12:00 noon, because the family is not yet certain she can participate in learning until 4:00 PM,” he explained.
