A joint search and rescue team successfully located the body of Rahmadani, 13, a student from Dusun Lereng village, Kuok district, Kampar regency, who drowned, on Friday night (May 15th).

Previously, the Pekanbaru Class A Search and Rescue Office received information on May 14th, 2026, regarding a teenager who drowned in the Kampar River, Pulau Balai village, Kuok district, Kampar regency.

Based on reports received from the Kampar Regency BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency), the victim was swept away and drowned while swimming with his friends in the river.

Head of the Pekanbaru Class A Search and Rescue Office, Budi Cahyadi, said that after receiving the report, the Pekanbaru SAR Office dispatched seven personnel to the location to carry out the SAR operation.

“On the second day of the search, Friday, May 15th, 2026, at 07:00 WIB, the Joint SAR Team held a briefing and continued the search according to the H2 Operational Plan,” he said, Saturday (May 16th).

He said that the joint SAR team conducted searches on the right and left sides of the river downstream for approximately 3 kilometers and carried out dives at suspected locations.

“Until 17:45 WIB, the search results were still negative, and the operation was temporarily halted at 18:00 WIB,” he said.

Furthermore, Budi said that at 23:00 WIB, the Joint SAR Team received information from residents who were feeding fish in a floating net and saw a body near the net.

“The joint SAR team immediately headed to the location and successfully found the victim dead at coordinates 0°20’12”N 100°57’38”E or about 3.5 kilometers from the initial location,” he explained.

The drowned victim was then evacuated and taken to the Kuok Community Health Center for further treatment. With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation was proposed to be closed at 23:50 WIB, and all elements involved returned to their respective agencies.

Budi added that he expressed his gratitude to all elements of the joint SAR team and the community who had helped in the search for the drowned victim. “The elements of the joint SAR team involved include the Pekanbaru SAR Office, the Kampar Regency BPBD, the TNI/Polri (National Armed Forces/National Police), village officials, and local residents.
