Police have named a student, FA (16), as a suspect after he hit two residents while driving an official car belonging to the Badan Keuangan Aset dan Daerah (BKAD) of Mamuju, West Sulawesi.

“Yes, he is now a suspect,” said the Head of Public Relations at the Mamuju Police, Iptu Herman Basir, to reporters on Wednesday (25/2).

FA was driving a Toyota Fortuner, which is the official vehicle of his father, Paharuddin, who serves as the Head of the Asset Division at the BKAD Mamuju.

Herman explained that the suspect’s family had met with the two victims, who are still receiving medical treatment. However, one of the victims does not want to settle, as their demands cannot be met by the suspect’s family.

“Even though they do not agree, the Head of Division will still provide financial assistance of Rp30 million for medical expenses; initially, they requested Rp100 million,” he said.

In handling this case, the police are applying the juvenile justice system, given that the suspect is a minor.

“Therefore, it will be handled through diversion, as the suspect is a minor,” he said.

Previously, the official car of the Head of the Asset Division at the Badan Keuangan Aset dan Daerah (BKAD) of Mamuju, West Sulawesi, hit a stall and two residents. The car, a black Toyota Fortuner with license plate DC 1156 A, was driven by a 16-year-old student, FA. The accident occurred on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Mamuju, allegedly because FA lost control of the vehicle after driving at high speed on Friday (6/2) at around 01:00 WITA.
