Student dies in accident

JAKARTA (JP): A female student was killed instantly when a
truck crushed her head moments after she fell off the back of a
motorcycle on Jl. S. Parman in West Jakarta yesterday morning.

The victim, identified as Maria Yanti, was a student at the
University of Tarumanegara.

The motorcycle driver was reported to have broken his leg.

Witnesses said that the motorcycle was zig-zagging through the
standstill traffic when he lost his balance, hit a truck from
behind and fell over.

Police said the truck driver was avoiding a Kijang van which
suddenly cut in front of him near the Prosecutor's office before
running over the woman.

The motorcycle driver was identified as a student from the
same university. The woman's body was removed from the accident
site two hours later due to the traffic congestion. (14)
