Student Demonstration Points in Jakarta Today
Demonstrations are being held again by a number of student groups from various universities at several points in Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Metro Resort Police recorded four locations serving as sites for student demonstrations today.
Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Police, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, stated that two student groups will hold demonstrations in the Arjuna Wijaya Horse Statue area, Central Jakarta. The demonstrations are expected to commence from 10:00 WIB.
“Other locations are in front of the DPR, MPR, and DPD Complex and on Jalan Kwitang Raya,” Erlyn said in a written statement on Monday, 15 June 2026.
The Arjuna Wijaya Horse Statue area is the demonstration site for the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Bung Karno University, Trisakti University, the University of Indonesia Student Action Front (FAM), the Perisai and Cipayung Alliance, and other student organisations.
Meanwhile, in front of the DPR Complex, a demonstration will be held by a cross-campus student group. “On Jalan Kwitang Raya, the demonstration is by the All-Indonesia BEM Alliance of Jambi Province,” Erlyn stated.
Regarding the number of security personnel, he did not answer about the presence of assistance from the Indonesian National Armed Forces. He only said that security was provided by his institution, assisted by the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police.
“There are 5,955 personnel on standby,” he said.
Previously, BEM UBK stated that in today’s demonstration they are carrying the theme “Reorganise Indonesia” with six points of demands for the administration of President Prabowo Subianto.
The six demands include temporarily halting and evaluating the free nutritious meal project and the Merah Putih Village Cooperatives; reviewing the National Police Law.
Furthermore, they demand an end to militarism and the enforcement of civilian supremacy; urge the government to take strategic steps to maintain the stability of the rupiah exchange rate and national economic resilience; and demand the government provide inclusive, high-quality, and affordable education rights for all Indonesian people.
“Lastly, we demand that the government review the increase in fuel oil prices because it burdens the public,” said the Head of BEM for the UBK Faculty of Law, M. Abdul Maludin, via WhatsApp message on Monday.
