A 23-year-old student identified as MNR, a resident of Kapanewon Seyegan in Sleman, was assaulted by an unknown group near the Seyegan-Godean Road. The incident was reported to police, with officers currently pursuing the suspects.

Iptu Argo Anggoro, Head of Public Relations for Sleman Police, stated that the assault occurred north of the Seyegan SPBU in Margodadi, Seyegan, Sleman, at around 5:30 AM on Sunday, 24 May, and was reported to Seyegan Police Station on Monday, 25 May.

He explained that the victim and a friend had finished eating at a Warmindo restaurant on Godean Road around 5:00 AM before riding their motorcycles home via Sidomoyo Road northwards. During the journey, they felt followed by two unidentified motorcyclists, each carrying a passenger. When near a convenience store south of Senja Cebongan Reservoir, the suspects stopped them.

“The suspects asked the victim about a group of PCX motorcycle riders. The victim explained he was just two people leaving Warmindo,” he said.

The victim continued but was stopped again in front of SMPN 1 Seyegan. The suspects demanded he go to the field, but he chose to return home. However, at around 5:30 AM north of Seyegan SPBU, he was again stopped and assaulted. He was struck with a belt buckle on his left knee.

“The victim was pulled off his motorcycle, punched in the mouth, kicked until he fell, and received multiple kicks to the abdomen and arms,” he added.

After the assault, the suspects fled north and south along Seyegan Road. The victim sustained injuries including bruises on his left knee, a dislodged right middle fingernail, a bruised lower lip, two broken upper teeth, abdominal pain, and back bruises.

Police have received the report, documented the victim’s statement, and are gathering witness testimonies to identify the perpetrators.
