Student and Ojol Protests in Central Jakarta, 900 Personnel Deployed

A total of 900 joint personnel have been placed on standby to oversee demonstrations in the Central Jakarta area. Two protest locations are planned for today.

According to state news agency Antara on Thursday (23/7/2026), Central Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, stated that joint personnel from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Police, and sector police stations have been deployed to secure the proceedings. Erlyn said the demonstration will be held by masses from Cipayung Plus South Jakarta (LMND, HMP MPO, GMNI, PMKRI, HMI DIPO, SEMMI, PMII, IMM & KAMMI) and several mass elements in the Gambir area.

“Security for the demonstration from Cipayung Plus South Jakarta (LMND, HMP MPO, GMNI, PMKRI, HMI DIPO, SEMMI, PMII, IMM & KAMMI) and several mass elements in the Gambir area, with the activity planned for 11.00 WIB,” Erlyn said in a written statement.

Furthermore, a second demonstration will be held by the Central Executive Board of Go Graber Indonesia in the MPR/DPR RI complex. The protest is scheduled for 14.00 WIB.

Police will implement situational traffic engineering at the demonstration points, taking into account the number of protesters on the ground. The public is also advised to avoid areas around the demonstrations to anticipate traffic congestion.
