Student Action in DIY Demands Transparent and Accountable Investigation into Andrie Yunus Case
The government faces a policy dilemma with no truly comfortable options.
A protest group calling itself BEM Nusantara DIY and BEM PTNU DIY held an action at the DIY Regional People’s Representative Council.
Coordinator of BEM Nusantara DIY, Miftahun Ni’am, stated that the action responds to the increasingly evident decline in democracy. “We, united in the Executive Board of Students of Nusantara DIY and BEM PTNU DIY, express a firm stance: the state must not continue to fail in protecting its people,” he said on Wednesday (8/3).
Therefore, this action is not merely a form of protest but a stern warning if the state continues to be negligent. “Then, students and the people will not stay silent in facing injustice and threats to democracy,” added Tegar Pradana, Regional Coordinator of BEM PTNU DIY.
He outlined four demands. First, demanding that the Indonesian House of Representatives through the DIY DPRD ensure legal accountability in the Andrie Yunus case in a transparent and accountable manner.
Second, demanding the revision of Law No. 3 of 2025 on the TNI.
Third, demanding the revision of Law No. 31 of 1997 on military judiciary.
Fourth, demanding and urging the Indonesian House of Representatives through the DIY DPRD to ensure transparency in the Police Reform Acceleration Committee. (H-2)
