Strong winds are forecast to affect two regencies in Bali and the city of Denpasar from Wednesday (29/7) until Thursday (30/7) at 08:00 WITA. The affected areas are Badung Regency and Klungkung Regency.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BBMKG) Region III Denpasar stated that wind speeds will range from 8 to 40 km/h, blowing from the east to the southeast. “Be aware of the potential for increased wind speeds,” said Cahyo Nugroho, Head of BBMKG Region III Denpasar, in a statement.

In addition to the wind speeds, the BBMKG Denpasar weather forecast also noted that sea waves could reach up to 2.5 metres in the southern waters of Bali. Meanwhile, wave heights in the northern waters of Bali are expected to range from 0.5 to 1.5 metres. The public, fishermen, and marine tourism operators have been urged to remain vigilant.

Observations in several locations in Badung Regency on Wednesday afternoon (29/7) confirmed that the wind was blowing quite strongly. A resident, Gede Manda, reported that his clothesline pole had fallen after being struck by a shade cloth installed next to it. “Yes, the clothesline pole fell earlier because of the wind,” Manda said.
