Makassar is increasingly demonstrating its potential as one of the key growth centres for tourism and business in Eastern Indonesia. High business mobility, supported by massive infrastructure development and rising tourist numbers, has driven strong accommodation demand in the city.

Multibrand hotel and accommodation technology platform RedDoorz views Makassar as a city with consistently growing hotel business potential. In 2025, RedDoorz recorded over 64,000 bookings from all its property partners and multibrand offerings in Makassar.

‘Makassar holds a strategic position as a key business hub in Eastern Indonesia. Makassar City Government’s commitment to strengthening its role as an economic and business hub is evident through strategic infrastructure projects such as the inauguration of the Makassar Government Center (MGC), Multi Years Project (MYP) road construction, and the Barombong Bridge development.

On the other hand, tourism sector growth is also supporting accommodation demand. According to Makassar City Tourism Office data, domestic tourist visits to Makassar in 2025 reached 6.18 million, a 12.06% increase from the previous year.

Developments in destinations such as Lanjukang Island, Samalona, and Tallo River will further enhance Makassar’s tourist appeal in 2026.
