Strong HSE and Targeted CSR Reflect Corporate Governance Quality
The reliability of a mining company is measured not only by the volume of work completed, but also by its discipline in maintaining safety and its contribution to surrounding communities. A strong Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) framework and targeted Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) now serve as a reflection of governance quality as well as a corporation’s moral responsibility.
“We believe business growth is only meaningful if it is built on a foundation of safe and responsible operations,” said PT Cipta Kridatama (CK) Director Roni Setyawan in Jakarta on Friday (5/6/2026). He stated there is no compromise when it comes to operational safety as it is a basic prerequisite for every business activity. “Every individual working in the mining area must return home safely to their family,” Roni explained.
He elaborated that in the mining sector, a company’s competitiveness is supported not only by operational productivity, but also by governance discipline, safety culture, and the sustainability of social programmes. “This combination is increasingly important when business actors are required to maintain operational reliability while delivering measurable benefits around their work areas,” he said.
Throughout 2025, for example, CK was able to record 42,197,090 working hours, maintaining zero fatalities for three consecutive years since 2023, and recording a frequency rate that remains below the industry threshold. As a result, CK won the Gold Winner in the Mining Operation Safety category at the 2026 Indonesia Mining Services Award (IMSA) held by the Indonesian Mining Services Association (Aspindo).
“Four CK operational sites in Sumatra and Kalimantan also received Zero Accident awards in 2025. This confirms that safety discipline is implemented consistently in the field,” he explained. He continued that CK’s victory at the IMSA 2026 was also supported by on-site safety innovations, one of which is a fatigue-triggered auto-braking system developed together with its partner.
“This technology is able to detect operator fatigue and trigger automatic braking, with the ability to stop a loaded truck from a speed of 50 km per hour within a distance of less than 30 metres,” he said. From a human resources perspective, he explained, CK strengthens safety through the Advance Development Operator Program (ADOP), Training Need Analysis, and a 99–100 per cent competency certification rate for supervisors and technical personnel.
“CK operates under standards supported by ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications. An integrated OHS structure and continuous evaluation form the foundation that makes safety a daily practice, not just a slogan,” he explained. Roni added that this award reflects a long-term investment in strengthening competence, innovation, safety technology, and reinforcing the implementation of good mining practices across all CK operational lines in Sumatra and Kalimantan.
On a different occasion, this subsidiary of PT ABM Investama Tbk (ABMM) also took home the Top CSR Awards 2026 Star 3 title from TOPBusiness magazine for its social responsibility programmes deemed to have a real impact on the community. CK together with its partners in South Kalimantan developed the Biotron or Biochar Three in One programme, an innovation for making organic fertiliser to improve soil quality, increase agricultural productivity, and reduce dependence on chemical fertilisers.
“The recognition of HSE and CSR performance by the ABMM Group is not the finish line, but a reminder that public trust is built through verifiable results, safe operations, strong governance, and contributions felt by the community,” he concluded.
