Strengthening the National Ship Component Industry Through PIKKI-PT PAL Collaboration
BEKASI – The Indonesian Ship Component Industry Association (PIKKI) recently held a business discussion on optimising supporting industries together with PT PAL Indonesia at the Griya Wulansari building in Bekasi. The event was attended by PT PAL President Director Kaharuddin Jenod, IMATAP Director Tunggul Mahardi, PIKKI Chairman Ekki Komaruddin, and players in the national maritime supporting industry.
Attending on behalf of the President Director of PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero), who was unable to attend, Munir Muradi, VP of Classification Business Operations, conveyed BKI’s commitment to continuing to support efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s ship component industry.
“Local maritime supporting industries play an irreplaceable strategic role in the national maritime ecosystem. Self-reliance in the supply of components and technical services not only strengthens the supply chain, but also reinforces the country’s maritime sovereignty and resilience,” he said.
He stressed that true competitiveness is born from continuous innovation, quality assurance, and the ability to meet the needs of both domestic and export markets. For this reason, PIKKI is considered crucial as a vehicle for collaboration and advocacy for ship component industry players.
“Through synergy between industry players, classification bodies such as BKI, government stakeholders, and end users such as PT PAL, we can create an ecosystem that facilitates increased production capacity, technology transfer, and quality standardisation,” he added.
BKI is committed to being a supporting partner through the application of classification standards that are transparent, efficient, and oriented towards safety and quality. Other tangible support needed by the industry includes innovation incentives, improved human resource competencies, access to financing, and easier integration into major supply chains.
“PIKKI has the opportunity to become the driving force behind transforming the ship component industry to a higher level. Let us use this momentum to collaborate more closely,” said the BKI representative.
The event is expected to produce concrete steps to strengthen the competitiveness of the national ship component industry and realise Indonesia’s maritime self-reliance.
