Strengthening the Logistics Corridor, Alfa Trans Raya Targets Mining Cargo Shipments to East Indonesia
SEMARANG — PT Cipta Krida Bahari (CKB Logistics) has reiterated its commitment to improving connectivity and the reliability of the national maritime logistics service. Through its subsidiary, PT Alfa Trans Raya (ATR), CKB Logistics is developing a container vessel, Alfa Trans Tiga, to strengthen ATR’s flexibility in serving customers’ distribution needs across key industrial sectors. The construction of this container vessel is a long-term investment by the company to ensure greater and more predictable space on board. This will support smooth supply chain operations for customers, especially industries that require certainty of service and punctual delivery.
Chief Executive Officer of PT Alfa Trans Raya, Ety Puspitasari, described the fleet as a manifestation of the company’s commitment to continue growing with customers by delivering logistics solutions relevant to their operational needs. ‘We are directing the addition of this fleet to increase ATR’s operational capacity so it becomes more adaptable in serving industrial cargo shipments, including the mining, energy, and mineral processing sectors,’ she said at the launch of Alfa Trans Tiga at the Tanjung Emas Port area, Semarang, Central Java, on Friday, 22 May 2026.
According to Ety, who also serves as Director of Logistics and Distribution at CKB Logistics, the presence of the new vessel is a strategic step to strengthen the capacity of maritime logistics services that are reliable, efficient, and safe to support customers’ transport needs at an increasingly larger scale.
As the fleet currently owned by the company with the largest capacity, Alfa Trans Tiga is designed to meet the increasingly complex logistics needs of customers. The vessel is optimised for container carriage, with a large and efficient cargo hold, and has met the requirements to handle special cargo, including dangerous goods, for deployment to various strategic operating regions.
Chief Executive Officer of CKB Logistics, Iman Sjafei, explained strategically that Alfa Trans Tiga is projected to support the strengthening of integrated logistics distribution along the sailing corridor toward Sulawesi and the Central and Eastern Indonesian regions. ‘This region is one of the growth hubs of industry that requires consistent maritime logistics support, both in terms of capacity, connectivity, and service certainty. The presence of the new fleet is expected to help customers maintain supply chain stability from upstream to downstream more optimally,’ he said.
During its construction, the ship was developed under tight supervision to ensure it meets high maritime quality standards and navigation safety. This focus aligns with the company’s commitment to service, operational and safety excellence, as well as compliance with strict health, safety, and environment (HSE) standards, particularly in supporting customers’ operational needs in areas that demand reliability and caution.
‘Going forward, Alfa Trans Tiga is scheduled to undertake its maiden voyage in late June or early July 2026,’ said Iman Sjafei.
