Strengthening Supervision, BPJPH and Barantin Sign MoU for Halal Product Assurance Synergy
The signing of the memorandum of understanding represents a step in strengthening inter-agency collaboration to ensure that products entering and circulating in Indonesia meet health and safety standards, as well as comply with halal provisions under JPH regulations.
Head of BPJPH Ahmad Haikal Hasan emphasised that the Indonesian Quarantine Agency holds a crucial position as the frontline in supervising the flow of animal, fish, and plant products entering Indonesia. According to him, the cooperation between BPJPH and the Indonesian Quarantine Agency is a tangible form of synergy among state institutions in protecting the public and strengthening national industry resilience.
“The Indonesian Quarantine Agency serves as the gateway to ensure that food products entering Indonesia are healthy and halal. The cooperation between BPJPH and the Indonesian Quarantine Agency will continue to be strengthened,” stated Haikal in a written statement on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
“The memorandum of understanding that we have just signed aims to protect the entire nation and all of Indonesia’s homeland,” he added.
Meanwhile, Head of Barantin Abdul Kadir Karding appreciated the strategic cooperation. According to him, the agreement stems from the strong commitment of both institutions to synergise in supervising and controlling products entering Indonesia.
“We are grateful today to meet for the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Indonesian Quarantine Agency and BPJPH. This agreement could be realised due to the strong commitment to synergise between the two institutions,” he said.
He explained that the collaboration covers supervision and control of animals, plants, and fish, up to strengthening the product traceability system.
“This cooperation is expected to bring joint supervision and control over animals, plants, fish, and traceability aspects. The goal is to ensure that entering products are not only healthy but also meet the principles of halalan thayyiban,” he clarified.
Through this memorandum of understanding, BPJPH and the Indonesian Quarantine Agency will strengthen coordination, data and information exchange, as well as integrated supervision in supporting the implementation of Halal Product Assurance.
This synergy is expected to strengthen the supervision of products entering Indonesia while supporting the creation of a halal product ecosystem that is safe, healthy, and globally competitive.
