Strengthening Sharia Investment Literacy: UIN Bandung Students Hold SPMS 2026
The Sharia Investment Gallery (GIS) of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) at the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business (FEBI), UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, held the 2026 Sharia Capital Market School (SPMS) at the IDX West Java Representative Office on Monday (8/6/2026).
The event was opened by the Supervisor of the GIS BEI FEBI UIN Bandung, Gina Sakinah, S.E.Sy., M.E., who noted that SPMS 2026 featured speakers from the Indonesia Stock Exchange West Java and capital market practitioners. The material was presented by Sri Herlinawati, Deputy Head of IDX West Java, and Asep Muhammad, S.Pd., Manager of the KISI Bandung Gallery.
According to Sakinah, SPMS is one of the flagship programmes of the GIS designed to improve student literacy and competence in the field of Sharia investment. Participants received instruction on the basic concepts of the Sharia capital market, Sharia investment instruments, investment strategies, and practices for portfolio management in accordance with Sharia principles.
In her opening remarks, the Head of the Sharia Accounting Study Programme, Mia Lasmi Wardiyah, S.P., M.Ag., CPRM., C.PS., C.MC., emphasised that the Sharia capital market is a vital instrument for building investment awareness that is not only profit-oriented but also grounded in Sharia principles.
“Alhamdulillah, today we are participating in Sharia Capital Market School Levels 1 and 2. This event is a flagship programme of our Sharia Investment Gallery. Why is the Sharia capital market important? Because investment is not just about profit. In the Sharia capital market, we learn to grow wealth in a way that is halal, transparent, and free from elements of gharar (uncertainty), maysir (gambling), and riba (usury). Thus, in addition to profit, we also seek blessings,” she explained.
Level 1 participants gained a fundamental understanding of Sharia investment, ranging from an introduction to Sharia-compliant stocks and Sharia stock indices to the procedures for opening Sharia securities accounts. Meanwhile, Level 2 participants received more in-depth material regarding fundamental analysis, technical analysis, and strategies for constructing Sharia investment portfolios.
“All great investors start from zero. Therefore, do not be afraid to learn and start investing early. Use this opportunity to expand your insights and skills in the Sharia capital market field,” she added.
Mia expressed her appreciation to the GIS management, the Indonesia Stock Exchange, and all parties supporting the event. The presence of the Sharia Capital Market School is expected to produce a new generation of young investors who are intelligent, possess integrity, and provide benefits to society.
“Sharia investment is not merely about profit, but about attaining blessings. It is hoped that this activity will produce a young generation of investors capable of developing Indonesia’s Sharia economy,” she stated.
Participants engaged in interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, providing opportunities to further understand the opportunities and challenges of Sharia investment in the digital era.
Through the implementation of the 2026 Sharia Capital Market School, the GIS BEI FEBI UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung continues to strengthen its role as a centre for Sharia investment education and literacy within the university environment. “It is hoped that this activity can encourage the emergence of a young generation that is investment-literate, financially intelligent, and capable of contributing to the development of the national Sharia economic and financial ecosystem,” she concluded.
