Strengthening Security Systems: Jakarta DPRD Supports Cross-Agency CCTV Integration

The Deputy Chairman of the Jakarta DPRD, Wibi Andrino, supports the integration of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) services between the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Wibi stated that this integration is essential for strengthening the security and comfort of the capital’s residents, noting that Jakarta requires a unified monitoring system.

He believes that surveillance cameras distributed across various locations serve as a new strength in maintaining public safety. Through a real-time connected monitoring system, potential security disturbances, criminal activities, traffic congestion, and emergencies can be detected and addressed more rapidly. This synergy also supports the effectiveness of public space surveillance, ensuring citizens feel safer during their daily activities.

Through strengthened collaboration, Jakarta is expected to become a more orderly, responsive, and comfortable city for all its residents. “This is a step that the people of Jakarta have been waiting for,” Wibi said in a written statement on Monday (8/6/2026).

Furthermore, Wibi explained that the integrated distribution of CCTV supports the monitoring of potential threats to public order and security, including street crimes such as muggings and snatch thefts. The system also supports the monitoring of traffic congestion points. “With this integration, it is hoped that a solution can be found,” Wibi explained.

Optimising existing CCTV infrastructure is also a realistic approach, as the procurement of new surveillance cameras within the Regional Budget (APBD) requires significant funding. Therefore, he encourages the maximum utilisation of all existing CCTV through cross-agency cooperation. “This is certainly a concrete step that provides relief to the community,” Wibi added.

Wibi emphasised that security protection must be comprehensive, covering both local residents and foreign nationals. He noted that CCTV integration will also assist the Metro Jaya Regional Police in accelerating responses to security disturbances and strengthening law enforcement in Jakarta. “Hopefully, the police, specifically the Metro Jaya Regional Police, will be assisted. Law enforcement in Jakarta will also improve,” Wibi concluded.
