PT Asabri (Persero) is strengthening education and empowerment for its members to prepare for a healthy, comfortable and prosperous retirement through a series of activities marking Pension Fund Month 2026. These activities form part of efforts to raise members’ awareness of the importance of planning for retirement while still in active employment.

The kick-off event for Pension Fund Month 2026 was held in the Jalan Jenderal Sudirman area of Jakarta under the theme “Productive in Youth, Happy in Old Age”. The launch also took place in Bandung and Semarang. The programme was initiated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and involves a number of stakeholders, including BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, PT TASPEN (Persero), PT ASABRI (Persero), the Association of Financial Institution Pension Funds (ADPLK) and the Indonesian Pension Fund Association (ADPI).

Chair of the OJK Board of Commissioners Friderica Widyasari Dewi said improving public welfare in retirement requires cooperation from various parties. According to her, public awareness of retirement preparation is also a key factor.

“To improve people’s welfare in retirement, synergy and collaboration among all parties are needed. This is something we must work on together, but the most important thing is the willingness of the public itself,” said Friderica.

Minister of Manpower Yassierli said retirement preparation is becoming increasingly important as Indonesia’s demographic structure changes. Indonesia is currently enjoying a demographic bonus and will gradually enter a phase of an ageing population.

“More and more people are at an age beyond working age, after their working years. Of course we want them to remain able to contribute. They should not be dependent on productive workers,” said Yassierli.

Minister of State Apparatus Utilisation and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini also emphasised the importance of preparing for retirement from the start of one’s working life. According to her, retirement should not only be considered when a person approaches retirement age. “Good preparation is not made when we are about to stop working, but from the moment we start working,” said Rini.

EXPANDING EDUCATION PROGRAMMES

President Director of Asabri Jeffry Haryadi P.M. said the company’s attention to its members does not stop at providing financial benefits. Asabri is also developing education and empowerment programmes to help members face the transition into retirement.

“For Asabri, retirement is not the end of the company’s attention to its members. After completing their service to the nation and state, members deserve support to enjoy their retirement in good health, happiness and prosperity,” said Jeffry.

During Pension Fund Month 2026, Asabri is running two main programmes: PUNDI (Money and Investment Fund Management Training) and Nawasena (Insight and Welfare Development for Retirees).

The PUNDI programme is being implemented at 33 Asabri branch offices and is aimed at active members. It provides education on financial management and investment so that members are able to make financial decisions and plan for their retirement more effectively.

Meanwhile, the Nawasena programme is being implemented at five branch offices — Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Balikpapan and Denpasar. It is aimed at retired members with a welfare-based approach covering activities, insight, skills, health and financial management.

Corporate Secretary of Asabri Okki Jatnika said the two programmes represent the company’s contribution to strengthening members’ readiness for retirement.

“Retirement preparation within the ASABRI ecosystem touches not only on financial aspects, but also comprehensively covers physical health, productivity and emotional well-being,” said Okki.

STRENGTHENING MEMBERSHIP

Chief Executive of Insurance, Guarantee and Pension Fund Supervision at OJK Ogi Prastomiyono added that improving retirees’ welfare requires strengthening membership, contribution continuity and prudent investment management.

“Improving the replacement ratio cannot rely on a single programme or a single institution. Synergy between mandatory and voluntary pension programmes is needed,” said Ogi.

OJK recorded total pension industry assets at Rp1,699.99 trillion in July 2026, growing 6.70% year-on-year. Ogi said the asset growth was supported by both mandatory and voluntary pension programmes.

“Assets of voluntary pension programmes reached Rp409.19 trillion, growing 4.24% year-on-year. Meanwhile, assets of mandatory pension programmes were higher, at Rp1,290.80 trillion, growing 7.51% year-on-year.

OJK, together with ministries across government, has launched Pension Fund Month 2026 to improve public literacy and financial readiness in facing retirement.
