To strengthen religious education, the Tegal Regency Government (Pemkab Tegal), Central Java, will provide incentives through improved welfare for Madrasah Diniyah (Madin) and Al-Qur’an Education Institution (LPQ) teachers in 2026.

This was conveyed by Tegal Regent Ischak Maulana Rohman during the Socialisation of the Distribution of Islamic Religious Teacher Incentive Grants, organised by the Tegal Regency Ministry of Religious Affairs Office at the Grand Dian Hotel, Slawi, on Wednesday (08/04/2026). The event was also combined with the launch of cash waqf for Civil Servants (ASN) and the strengthening of public service performance.

On that occasion, the Regent emphasised that despite the local government facing fiscal adjustments, attention to religious teachers remains a priority.

“Attention to Qur’an teachers, Madin teachers, and LPQ must not diminish. In fact, this year we are increasing it as a form of appreciation for their significant role in building the character of the younger generation,” said Ischak.

Ischak explained that the incentive amount for religious teachers in 2026 will rise from Rp1.7 million to Rp2 million per year. Additionally, they are increasing the allocation of social assistance for private teachers and other non-formal religious educational institutions.

The Regent stressed that this policy is part of the local government’s efforts to maintain the quality of character education amid increasingly complex social challenges.

“Religious education plays a strategic role in shaping a generation with morals and character. Therefore, the local government will continue to provide support,” explained Ischak.

Ischak invited educators and religious figures to actively participate in addressing social issues, particularly drug abuse among teenagers.

“Synergy is needed between families, schools, and religious communities to protect the younger generation from negative influences,” he asserted.

According to Ischak, these efforts are strengthened through programme and budget support from the Tegal Regency Ministry of Religious Affairs.

“The distribution is through incentive grants to religious teachers,” explained Ischak.

The Head of the Tegal Regency Ministry of Religious Affairs Office, Ahmad Muhdzir, explained that in 2026, his office received a grant of Rp18.786 billion allocated for 9,368 LPQ and Madrasah Diniyah Takmiliyah teachers.

“There are still around 1,300 teachers who have not received incentives. We hope that in the future, all of them can be accommodated,” said Ahmad Muhdzir.

He also appreciated the support from Pemkab Tegal in improving the welfare of religious teachers. This synergy is an important factor in strengthening religious education services in the community.

“In line with strengthening religious social values, this event also serves as a momentum for launching ASN cash waqf within the Tegal Regency Ministry of Religious Affairs,” explained Ahmad Muhdzir.

He hopes this programme can foster social awareness and expand benefits for the community.

“This commitment represents the active role of the Tegal Regent in strengthening religious education, improving teacher welfare, and encouraging cross-sector collaboration to realise higher quality public services,” concluded Ahmad Muhdzir.
