Bangkok, VIVA – The Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), owned by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), today announced a strategic partnership with Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE) from Indonesia, as a significant step in strengthening the ASEAN trade and exhibition ecosystem through closer regional collaboration.

This partnership was formalised at the Thailand MICE Exchange (TMX), which also reinforces MITEC’s role as a gateway to Southeast Asia, by promoting cross-border opportunities in trade exhibitions, conventions, and large-scale business events.

“This partnership reflects a strategic step in shaping a more connected and resilient ASEAN business events ecosystem,” said Mala Dorasamy, Chief Executive Officer of MITEC, quoted on Thursday, 30 April 2026. “At MITEC, we view our role not merely as a venue, but as a platform that enables trade, fosters collaboration, and creates cross-border economic impact,” she added.

More than just a collaboration between two venues, this partnership embodies a shared ambition to position Southeast Asia as a connected, competitive market ready for the future, where strategic alliances serve as key drivers of trade, investment, and industrial growth.

“This partnership with MITEC is an important step in strengthening regional connectivity within the Southeast Asian business events landscape,” said Ryan Adrian, Managing Director of NICE. “Through this collaboration, we can unlock new opportunities for trade exhibitions, deepen industry collaborations, and create greater value for organisers and stakeholders across the region,” he added.

Through this partnership, MITEC and NICE will collaborate on exchanging market information, business opportunities, and joint development of trade exhibitions and industry platforms. This initiative is designed to open new opportunities for organisers, exhibitors, and stakeholders in the region, while strengthening engagement between the public and private sectors.

“This collaboration creates a practical framework—from exchanging business opportunities to market insights—that enables both organisations to respond more effectively to industry dynamics and deliver added value to our clients and stakeholders,” added Winnee Lim, Deputy CEO of MITEC, who represented MITEC in signing the cooperation agreement.
