Strengthening Indonesia's Digital Infrastructure Foundation, SMX01 Data Centre Project Reaches Topping Off
SM+ Data Centers, Korea Investment Real Asset Management (KIRA), and LG Sinar Mas (LGSM) have conducted the topping off ceremony for the construction of SMX01 in Jakarta. This achievement serves as a strong signal that the flagship data centre project is steadily progressing towards the Ready for Service (RFS) stage, targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026. SMX01 is an AI-ready data centre rich in connectivity, located in Jakarta’s Central Business District. The project forms part of the collaboration between SM+ Data Centers, KIRA, and LGSM to deliver a secure, scalable data centre facility ready to support the growth of the digital economy in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The presence of SMX01 strengthens SM+ Data Centers’ position in addressing the rising demand for cloud, enterprise, and AI infrastructure, as businesses increasingly require secure, scalable, and interconnected computing capacity. The topping off of SMX01 not only marks the completion of one of the main construction phases but also demonstrates tangible progress by SM+ Data Centers in expanding its capabilities from a national edge data centre network to a hyperscale-ready flagship metro data centre in Jakarta. The strengthening of the SMX01 ecosystem is also reflected in SM+ Data Centers’ previous signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) to expand inter-connectivity and support access to carrier-neutral infrastructure ahead of SMX01’s operations. This step reinforces SMX01’s position as part of a broader connectivity ecosystem to support high-capacity cloud, AI, and digital services needs in Indonesia. “SMX01 represents an important step in SM+ Data Centers’ journey to strengthen the national digital infrastructure ecosystem. From the edge data centre network we have built across various regions in Indonesia, SMX01 becomes the flagship facility designed to meet enterprise, hyperscale, cloud, and AI workload needs in Indonesia’s digital economic hub. With the achievement of this topping off, we are getting closer to delivering a facility ready to support customer needs upon entering the Ready for Service stage,” said Herson Suindah, President Director and Group CEO of SM+ Holdings, as quoted from his statement on Friday, 8 May 2026.
