Strengthening HR Governance Key to Building Adaptive and Competitive Organisations
Human resource (HR) development is now a determining factor for organisational success in facing increasingly rapid changes in the business world. Not only focused on improving individual competence, good HR governance also serves as the foundation for creating organisations that are professional, adaptive, and capable of competing sustainably.
Across various sectors, including the banking industry, HR management is no longer viewed merely as a matter of personnel administration. Career planning, competency development, recruitment systems, and performance evaluation are now part of an organisation’s strategy to maintain productivity while creating a healthy work culture.
The implementation of effective HR governance generally begins with the formulation of competency standards for each position, followed by mapping training needs based on organisational requirements, and the application of various learning methods such as training, coaching, mentoring, and job rotation. The entire process is then linked to a career development system so that every employee has the opportunity to grow based on competence and performance.
In addition, organisations are also required to conduct periodic evaluations of all HR management policies. This step is important to ensure that every policy remains relevant to business needs and regulatory developments, and is able to support the implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles, such as transparency, accountability, responsibility, independence, and fairness.
This approach is considered capable of increasing employee motivation while strengthening the company’s long-term competitiveness. With measurable and merit-oriented HR governance, organisations are believed to be better prepared to face business challenges while maintaining the sustainability of company growth.
In line with the strengthening of HR governance, the Grand Assembly of the Bank Jakarta Employees Union held on 4 July 2026 in Puncak, Bogor, produced a number of strategic recommendations aimed at strengthening human resource management and improving the implementation of corporate governance. The Chairman of the PT Bank Jakarta Employees Union for the 2026–2029 period, Reksa Ardiyansah, stated that all the resulting recommendations constitute constructive input to be conveyed to management through organisational mechanisms. According to him, strengthening HR governance is a crucial aspect of maintaining the sustainability of the company’s growth.
