Strengthening Harmony, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Holds Jakarta Colossal Bedug at Bundaran HI
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, inaugurated the “Jakarta Bedug Kolosal” event in the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia area on Friday night (20/3/2026). This activity was held as a space for creativity as well as a means to strengthen social harmony among Jakarta residents in welcoming Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.
Pramono explained that this event is the culmination of a series of Eid al-Fitr celebrations in Jakarta. The vibrancy of the event was marked by the presence of a thousand bedugs from 261 sub-districts in Jakarta, as well as representatives from Banten Province and West Sumatra.
“More than just entertainment, this activity also strengthens the values of togetherness, tightens social harmony, and serves as a space for community creativity and works, while encouraging the growth of the tourism and creative economy sectors in Jakarta,” said Pramono when opening the event.
In addition to the bedug parade, the takbiran night atmosphere was further enlivened by a torch parade involving 5,000 participants, a decorated vehicle parade, and a fountain show themed Jakarta Rhythm of the Fountain.
“Additionally, a torch parade involving 5,000 participants, a decorated vehicle parade, and a fountain show themed Jakarta Rhythm of the Fountain were held, bringing joy in welcoming the arrival of Eid al-Fitr,” he added.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government deliberately centred the activities at Bundaran HI to provide safe and comfortable public space access for residents who want to celebrate the night of victory.
“We present Bundaran HI as a social interaction space where residents walk together with their families, watch the fountain show and torch parade that blend with religious lights and music, and feel the warmth of togetherness on this night of victory,” said Pramono.
This year’s takbiran night momentum is considered special because it is close to the commemoration of Nyepi Day. According to Pramono, this becomes a strong symbol of tolerance in Jakarta.
“This momentum serves as a reminder to us all that Jakarta residents are a home for diversity, a place to share traditions and beliefs, living side by side in an atmosphere of mutual respect,” he stated.
As a continuation of this series of celebrations, the DKI Provincial Government is scheduled to hold a halalbihalal event on 11 April 2026 at Lapangan Banteng. The event is open to residents for mutual visits.
Closing his speech, Pramono together with Deputy Governor Rano Karno hopes that this series of activities can reinforce Jakarta’s identity as an inclusive global city. He also urged residents to maintain order and cleanliness of the city while celebrating takbiran night.
“Let us celebrate this takbiran night with the spirit of keeping Jakarta, maintaining the order, security, and cleanliness of our beloved city so that Jakarta remains a comfortable host for all its residents,” he concluded.
