KOMPAS.com reported that the Halal Product Assurance Organising Body (BPJPH) in collaboration with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) launched the Halal Certification Guard System Application Dashboard at the BPJPH building in Jakarta on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. The launch, which also featured an anti-corruption socialisation session, represents a concrete step by BPJPH to strengthen synergy in preventing corruption within the halal certification service environment, and a preventive measure to mitigate the risk of deviations. BPJPH chief Ahmad Haikal Hasan, known as Babe Haikal, stressed that anti-corruption commitment is not merely an administrative agenda, but is intrinsically attached to the character and mandate of BPJPH. BPJPH, he continued, bears a mandate that directly touches the basic needs of society—what people eat, drink and use daily. Therefore, integrity is not only a demand of good governance but also part of moral values, social norms, and ethical responsibility embedded in the administration of halal product guarantees. He emphasised that the halal certification mandate is not merely administrative or procedural, but concerns legal legitimacy as regulated in Law Number 33 of 2014 on Halal Product Guarantee. Babe Haikal noted that if the integrity of the administering body is compromised, not only the institution’s reputation but also the validity of the mandatory halal policy itself could be affected. When public trust collapses, regulatory effectiveness can be eroded and the institution’s existence could be at stake. “From a values and norms perspective, corrupt practices stand in diametric opposition to the principle of halal, which demands honesty, transparency, and accountability. Crime often begins from self-interest and rationalisations deemed small. This kind of mindset merely opens a grey area that risks producing deviations,” said Babe Haikal. The launch of the Halal Certification Guard Dashboard is a symbol of BPJPH’s commitment to building a system that is not only effective and efficient but also characterful and integral. The dashboard is expected to strengthen transparency of service processes, facilitate monitoring, and open space for oversight participation by stakeholders. On the same occasion, KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Aminudin emphasised the importance of safeguarding institutional dignity.
