Strengthening Governance: Pegadaian's Steps to Protect State Assets
The implementation of good corporate governance is an aspect being continuously strengthened by various business entities, including state-owned enterprises. In addition to supporting regulatory compliance, strengthening governance is considered vital for anticipating potential legal risks that may arise during operational activities.
In line with this, PT Pegada Prime (Persero) Regional Office IX Jakarta 2 has signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office in the field of Civil and State Administrative Law (Datun). The signing took place at the Aston Simatupang Hotel, South Jakarta, on Thursday, 30 July 2026.
This collaboration is intended to strengthen the application of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) principles, increase operational transparency, and support legal risk mitigation efforts within the company. In its official statement, Pegadaian noted that the cooperation is driven by the increasingly dynamic business environment and the growing complexity of legal issues faced by State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). As a company operating in the non-bank financial services sector, Pegadaian expressed its commitment to maintaining compliance with legal provisions and implementing risk management to protect state assets and stakeholder interests.
The agreement refers to the authority of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia through the Civil and State Administrative Law (Datun) division, which is tasked with providing legal aid, legal opinions, legal assistance, and other legal actions to government agencies and SOEs.
The Regional Leader of PT Pegadaian (Persero) Regional Office IX Jakarta 2, Maryono, stated that the signing of this agreement is a step for the company to strengthen legal aspects in supporting business operations. “As the complexity of financial transactions and potential legal risks in the field increase, collaboration with the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office in the field of Civil and State Administrative Law will provide the much-needed legal certainty,” said Maryono, as quoted from his statement.
He added that the company is also emphasising prevention efforts through legal consultation, in addition to resolving existing legal issues. “We are not only focusing on dispute resolution or handling arising legal problems, but we are also paying great attention to the aspects of mitigation and preventive risk through intensive legal consultation. This synergy is believed to be able to increase transparency, accountability, and the optimal protection of state assets to realise a healthy, safe, and sustainable Pegadaian business ecosystem,” Maryono added.
