Strengthening Energy Resilience: South Sumatra Police Chief and PLN Synergise on Securing Vital National Objects
The South Sumatra Police Chief (Kapolda Sumsel), Irjen Sandi Nugroho, received an audience visit from the leadership of PT PLN (Persero) Unit Induk Distribusi Sumatera Selatan, Jambi, and Bengkulu (UID S2JB). This meeting served as a momentum to strengthen collaboration in maintaining electricity reliability as the lifeline of the regional economy.
The meeting took place in the Delegation Room of the Presisi Building at Mapolda Sumsel on Friday (27/3/2026) around 10:00 WIB. Kapolda Sumsel directly welcomed the General Manager of PLN UID S2JB, Adhi Herlambang, along with senior managers. Kapolda Sumsel was accompanied by several Main Officials (PJU) of Polda Sumsel, including Karo Log, Dir Reskrimum, Dir Binmas, Dir Pamobvit, and Kabid Labfor.
Kapolda Sumsel emphasised that the National Police and PLN share overlapping responsibilities as representatives of the state in serving the public. He appreciated PLN’s contributions to maintaining electricity supply stability, especially during critical periods such as the Operasi Ketupat at toll roads and rest areas.
“A stable electricity supply greatly supports police operations and economic activities. No agency can work alone; this synergy is the key to security stability and accelerating development in South Sumatra,” said Irjen Sandi.
South Sumatra’s Potential as an Energy Hub
This audience is a follow-up to the 2022 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the PLN President Director and the Assistant to the National Police Chief for Operations. The cooperation covers five strategic points: data exchange, security assistance, law enforcement, human resource development, and utilisation of facilities and infrastructure.
Kapolda also highlighted the great potential of South Sumatra as an “Energy Hub”. According to him, the surplus electricity conditions in the region must be managed optimally to attract investment and develop strategic industrial areas.
In the digital era, Kapolda stressed the importance of transparency and rapid public information management. He reminded that inaccurate information related to public services can trigger unrest.
“We must educate the public on the importance of maintaining the electricity network. Thorough planning and early coordination are key to mitigating risks in the field,” he added.
Commitment to Sustainability
The meeting concluded with a joint commitment to continuously improve cross-sectoral coordination. Polda Sumsel expressed its readiness to fully support PLN’s tasks in maintaining electricity infrastructure reliability for the progress of South Sumatra.
Present in the PLN delegation were Senior Manager of Planning Armunanto, Senior Manager of Commerce Wira Bhakti Dharma, Senior Manager of Distribution Praniko Banu Rendra, and Manager of UP3 Palembang Arif Azani.
This meeting reaffirmed the joint commitment to maintaining the sustainability of the established synergy. Kapolda Sumsel emphasised that the Polda Sumsel ranks are ready to provide full security for national vital objects managed by PLN to ensure public comfort.
It is hoped that this solid collaboration will not only keep South Sumatra illuminated but also serve as the main driver for accelerating the wheels of the economy and welfare for all levels of society in the Land of Sriwijaya.
