Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Pertamina is exploring a strategic partnership with SLB as a global technology provider to accelerate the increase in national oil and gas production while improving the efficiency and sustainability of operations. This exploration is part of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston.

This step is part of Pertamina’s contribution to supporting the national agenda for energy resilience and independence through increased production and optimisation of domestic resources.

Pertamina’s Deputy CEO, Oki Muraza, emphasised that collaboration with global technology providers is key to unlocking greater production potential while addressing challenges in efficiency and sustainability.

“Collaboration with technology partners like SLB is a strategic step to strengthen national energy resilience. We are not only driving production increases but also ensuring efficient, competitive, and sustainable operations,” he stated on Friday (8/5/2026).

This partnership exploration covers asset optimisation and operational reliability enhancement, increased oil and gas production, cost efficiency, carbon emission reductions, as well as strengthening the utilisation of digital and data technologies.

SLB itself is an energy technology company that provides integrated solutions across the entire energy value chain, from oil and gas exploration and production to digital technology development and low-carbon energy, with a focus on improving energy access while promoting decarbonisation towards net zero.

With technological capabilities encompassing subsurface development, production systems, to digital and low-carbon solutions, SLB becomes a strategic partner in supporting the transformation and performance improvement of Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas sector.

This collaboration reflects an oil and gas development approach that does not solely rely on resources but also on technology integration, operational efficiency, and sustainability. The synergy between Pertamina and global partners is expected to accelerate the achievement of national oil and gas production targets.

With this step, Indonesia is further strengthening its position as an energy investment destination while promoting sustainable energy resilience and supporting national economic growth.
