Strengthening Digital Services and Gold Investment Products Drive Pegadaian's Profits
Jakarta, TopBusiness – PT Pegadaian has demonstrated increasingly solid business performance through the first four months of 2026. By 30 April 2026, the company had posted a net profit of Rp4.38 trillion, up 87.2 percent from Rp2.34 trillion in the same period last year. The positive performance was driven by an adaptive business strategy, strengthened digital services, and the expansion of the gold ecosystem that the company continues to broaden. Pegadaian’s business growth is also reflected in the rise in total assets to Rp183.8 trillion, up 56 percent from Rp117.8 trillion in April 2025. In addition, Pegadaian’s gross Outstanding Loans (OSL) rose significantly to Rp153.6 trillion, up 58.8 percent from Rp96.7 trillion a year earlier. Amid the expansion, the quality of financing remained well maintained. The Non-Performing Loan (NPL) ratio was reduced from 0.82 percent in April 2025 to 0.51 percent in April 2026. Profitability also strengthened. Return on Assets (ROA) stood at 7.49 percent, while Return on Equity (ROE) reached 29.72 percent. The company also managed to sustain operational efficiency. This is evident from the BOPO ratio (Operating Expenses to Operating Income) which fell to 59.71 percent, the lowest level in several years. President Director Damar Latri Setiawan said the achievement marks an important milestone for Pegadaian as it celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. He said the success in sustaining growth stems from the public’s loyalty and trust in Pegadaian as a financial services partner. ‘Public trust is the main energy powering our continued growth and development. This achievement is also the result of the hard work of all Pegadaian staff in delivering financial services that are increasingly relevant to the needs of the community,’ Damar said in a statement on Friday, 22 May 2026. He added that Pegadaian will continue the transformation of the company through strengthening digital services and developing gold-based investment products. One of the innovations now central to the company’s development is the Bulion service, or Bank Emas, which has officially obtained an operating licence from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Through this Bulion licence, Pegadaian becomes the first company in Indonesia to conduct Bank Emas operations officially. Pegadaian currently offers a range of services within the Bulion ecosystem, from Gold Deposits, Gold Working Capital Loans, Corporate Gold Custody Services, to Gold Trading. The company is believed to have strong infrastructure readiness to develop this business. In addition to around 90 percent of collateral being gold, Pegadaian also operates a network of gold storage vaults with international security standards spread across various regions of Indonesia. Damar said the gold investment trend is likely to continue rising as gold is a safe-haven instrument sought by the public amid global economic uncertainty. ‘Through the integrated Bulion service, we are optimistic about expanding gold investment inclusion while contributing more to national economic growth,’ said Damar.
