Strengthening Digital Safety, Roblox Establishes Global Parent Council

As a concrete step towards creating a safe digital environment for children and teenagers, Roblox has officially launched its inaugural Global Parent Council.

This initiative reinforces the platform’s commitment to directly engaging parents in shaping policies and future product development.

The council comprises 80 selected parents and guardians from 32 countries, including representation from Indonesia. Council members bring diverse areas of expertise, ranging from psychology, education and digital wellbeing to law enforcement. Their presence is expected to provide crucial global perspectives for Roblox’s mission of prioritising user safety and welfare.

Dr Elizabeth Milovidov, Roblox Global Head of Parental Advocacy, stated that the council reflects the company’s commitment to learning directly from individuals in the field. “The launch of the Global Parent Council demonstrates our commitment to partner with parents, including listening to and learning from each individual. With their support, we are better equipped to respond to the challenges faced by parents,” said Milovidov.

The council is scheduled to meet quarterly to share insights on family needs in their respective regions, as well as participate in monthly question-and-answer sessions on specific topics.

Annisa, one of the parents selected to represent Indonesia, welcomed the initiative positively. According to her, parental guidance is key to ensuring the digital platform remains a positive space for exploration. “As parents, we all want this platform to be a positive and safe digital environment for children,” said Annisa.

Beyond the main council, Roblox also introduced the Parent Champions programme. This programme was established to accommodate the high enthusiasm of applicants and provide more parents with the opportunity to access the latest information and share perspectives through regular email communications.

In line with this launch, Roblox continues to encourage parents to utilise its Safety Centre. There, guardians can access Parental Controls features to set playtime limits, manage spending, block specific users and configure access to chat features.

These steps form part of Roblox’s broader vision to build a safe, civil and optimistic technology ecosystem for the global community.
