Strengthening Community Economy, Pertamina Distributes 118,000 Staple Food Packages

PT Pertamina (Persero) held a series of social and educational activities to celebrate Kartini Day, including the distribution of staple food packages to underprivileged communities and a campaign on wise energy use, conducted at Pertamina’s head office. This initiative embodies Pertamina’s commitment to empowering women while delivering tangible benefits to society through strengthening family economic resilience. Pertamina’s Deputy Chief Executive, Oki Muraza, stated that Kartini Day serves as a reminder of the strategic role of women in families and society. “When women are healthy, families become stronger. When women are empowered, society progresses. We realise the spirit of Kartini through programmes that directly benefit the community, such as providing staple food to underprivileged groups. It may seem simple, but for many families, this is very helpful,” Oki said, quoted on Wednesday (22/4/2026). On the same occasion, Pertamina’s Corporate Secretary, Arya Dwi Paramita, noted that women play a crucial role as agents of change, including in maintaining family health and managing household needs wisely. “Through this activity, Pertamina delivers programmes that directly address community needs, both through staple food assistance and energy-wise education. This is part of efforts to encourage more efficient, sustainable lifestyles that impact family welfare,” Arya said. Arya added that on this Kartini Day, Pertamina symbolically distributed 1,000 staple food packages. Overall, from February to April 2026, Pertamina has distributed more than 118,000 packages nationwide. The distributed commodities include over 576,000 kg of rice, 127,000 kg of granulated sugar, 130,000 litres of cooking oil, more than 1,000 kg of wheat flour, and over 57,000 boxes of biscuits, instant coffee, milk, sardines, and sweet soy sauce. “This programme not only provides direct economic benefits but also has broader social value. Proceeds from the sale of affordable staple food packages are channelled back to the community for social activities in the surrounding areas,” Arya added. Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, further stated that this series of activities reflects Pertamina’s role in delivering energy that extends beyond products to provide social benefits for society. “Through Kartini Day, Pertamina aims to strengthen women’s roles as drivers of healthy, independent families that use energy wisely. Education on efficient energy use is a key part in supporting higher-quality and sustainable daily lives,” Baron said. Pertamina ensures equitable distribution of the staple food programme in collaboration with the Pertamina Group, local governments, and various stakeholders, including social institutions, religious organisations, and foundations. Beneficiary selection is conducted jointly with local governments to ensure the programme is on target and truly reaches those in need. The staple food assistance programme for underprivileged communities is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to deliver energy that not only powers activities but also contributes to societal welfare across Indonesia.
